How the Camel came about I had the idea of a Smiling Camel in 2006 after I had visited Palestine / Israel for the first time (for 35 years). Everything seemed so terribly serious and rather grim. So I thought: what about an animal, a local animal, that would smile and make people who bought it smile with it? So the idea of the Smiling Camel was born. I was lucky to find a sympathetic ear (and eye) in the Giacaman family of The Holy Land Arts Museum in Manger Square, Bethlehem, and after a few weeks of emails, a sample Smiling Camel arrived and we progressed from there. I can genuinely say that they are beautiful little wooden animals and very reasonable. Smiling Camel enquiries If you'd like to contact me, I'd be happy to reply to nice, genuine callers. |
